Edwards Wire is hiring. We’re the breaking-news arm of an independent progressive media operation reaching millions across YouTube, Substack, and social. We chase the stories corporate media buries and hit them with a progressive POV.
Write for the Wire
We're looking for one writer to own the daily cycle with us.
Be first. Be right. Be relentless. That's the whole job in six words. We move at tabloid speed and we don't want to run corrections.
What you'll do
- Write 3–5 short, sharp stories a day off the news cycle — NY Post–style headlines with real substance underneath
- Link upstream to primary sources on every claim
- Pitch — you bring stories to the table, you don't wait for assignments
- Work directly with Keith on story selection, voice, and what we chase
- Publish it yourself: Substack, clean formatting, hero image, inline links
What you need
- You can write fast and funny without getting facts wrong
- You're terminally online in political news — you know which reporters break what, and you see the story before the aggregators do
- You know what pops — you can smell which stories travel online before they do
- You understand how to use AI to move faster, not to think for you
- Tabloid instincts, progressive politics, allergic to both-sides mush
- Availability that matches the news — early mornings, plus some nights and weekends when things break
- Basic image work: pulling a hero, cropping, adding a text overlay
Bonus, not required
- A feel for short-form video and what travels on YouTube and Reels
- Campaign or political comms background
- You check what's performing and let it sharpen what you chase next
- Headline instincts that work for site and the feed
No journalism degree required. No minimum years of experience. If you're good, you're good.
